Sizzling Moon Review
We’ve seen a so-called ‘Blood Moon’ before, but a Sizzling Moon™ would probably spell doom for our planet as well, if the global warming phenomena ever goes that far. This cosmic-themed installment in Wazdan’s Hold the Jackpot range comes with molten lava infused visuals, and you can choose both game pace and volatility from 3 settings, as usual. This gives you great flexibility, and you can burn through tons of spins in no-time with the turbo maxed out.
The base game gives you top-up wins up to 150x your stake at the most, from the Pay Anywhere system, so you’re going to need the Hold the Jackpot feature to close in on the 2,500x hard-capped potential. Cracking it will most likely happen via the 2,500x Moon Jackpot that can only be won from a special Moon Mystery symbol, and this is the first installment in the series that offers an Extreme Volatility Bonus Buy option (not available in the UK).

The Pay Anywhere system gives you a win whenever 8 to 16 matching symbols land anywhere on the same spin, and you land between 6 and 150 x your stake for a full grid of matching symbols. The Wild symbol does not hold any value of its own, but it steps in for regular pay symbols to help complete winning combinations.

You need at least 6 Bonus Symbols anywhere in view to trigger the Hold the Jackpot feature, and sticky bonus symbols can remain locked in place for up to 9 spins. The triggering bonus symbols become sticky on an otherwise cleared 4x4 grid, and you get 3 respins that reset for each new sticky non-blank symbol you land.
The regular bonus symbols come with prizes between 1x and 10x, and 12x or 15x symbols can also land once in a while. The Hold the Jackpot feature goes on until you either run out of respins, or fill the grid completely with non-blank symbols. Filling the grid awards the Grand Jackpot worth 1,000x your stake, and you can also land Mini, Minor and Major jackpot symbols that pay 20x, 50x or 150x your stake, respectively.
In addition to bonus symbols and jackpot symbols, you can also land Mystery and Moon Mystery symbols during the feature. The Mystery symbol transforms into a random bonus or jackpot symbol when the feature ends, while the Moon Mystery symbol can also turn into the Moon Jackpot symbol which awards the hard-capped top prize of 2,500x your stake.
Finally, non-UK players, and anyone eligible, can take advantage of the in-game Bonus Buy feature. You get to choose between 4 versions of the Hold the Jackpot feature, namely low, standard, high and extreme volatility. This will set you back 50x, 100x, 300x or 600x your stake, respectively, and it takes you directly into the feature.
The 200 Spins Sizzling Moon™ Slot Experience
You get to see more than a minute of the base game, before we purchase the Extreme Volatility version of the Hold the Jackpot feature around the 1:40-mark. The result wildly exceeded our expectations, and we actually managed to crack the 2,500x potential by landing the Moon Jackpot.

The pace of the game is excellent as usual from Wazdan, and this is an aspect of the gameplay this developer has nailed like few others. With the turbo maxed out there’s no need to hammer the spin button, and we also love how quickly the winnings are summed up in the Hold the Jackpot feature. Many similar games take excruciatingly long to sum things up, which is especially annoying for the small to mediocre wins you get most of the time.
Since 150x your stake is the most you can land from a base game spin, and 2,500x is the win cap, we would recommend the standard volatility setting for this game. The sticky Bonus symbols come in handy at times, and the same can be said about the Hold the Jackpot mystery symbols, but there isn’t too much new to see here really. The win cap is a tad low for our liking also, but overall it’s a decent enough release in the series.
Pros
- Some Bonus symbols are sticky for up to 9 spins
- Hold the Jackpot w/ prizes up to 2,500x your stake
- Excellent pace and adjustable volatility (3 settings)
- 4 bonus buy volatility options (not for UK players)
Cons
- Base game max win is only 150x your stake
