Phoenix Queen (NetGame) Review
Stakelogic partner, NetGame, is back with yet another installment in their ongoing Hold ‘N’ Link series, and the oriental-themed Phoenix Queen: Hold ‘N’ Link plays out with cherry blossoms in the background. It’s clearly inspired by the myth of the Phoenix bird, which famously resurrected itself after crashing and burning, and this is perhaps a scenario most gamblers can relate to.
The visual presentation is somewhat generic, and not the most impressive we’ve seen in this series so far. It gets the job done though, and everything revolves around the Hold ‘N’ Link feature. What makes this installment stick out, is the fact that the number of sticky symbols racked up in the feature becomes the number of free spins you get right after, with a random multiplier per spin to boot.

The premium symbols pay between 5 and 12.5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the Queen Wild pays 17.5x your stake for the same. The wild symbol also steps in for regular pay symbols to help complete wins, and wilds can appear on all 5 reels. Other than that, you’ve got 2 main features to look forward to, namely the Hold ‘N’ Link bonus and the Bonus Round, and the two are intertwined.

The Hold ‘N’ Link Bonus triggers when you land at least 6 Free Spin symbols anywhere in view, and the triggering symbols become sticky on an otherwise cleared grid. Regular symbols serve as blanks during the feature, so the aim is to land new sticky free spin symbols.
You start with 3 respins, and the tally resets per new sticky FS symbol you land. The feature ends when you run out of spins, or when you fill all 15 positions with sticky FS symbols. The number of FS symbols you’ve managed to rack up determines whether or not you win 1 of the 4 Cashpots. You will only win one of them, and it’s paid as the feature ends:
- 12 FS symbols award the Mini Cashpot worth 10x your stake.
- 13 FS symbols award the Mini Cashpot worth 25x your stake.
- 14 FS symbols award the Mini Cashpot worth 50x your stake.
- 15 FS symbols award the Mini Cashpot worth 500x your stake.
Once the Hold ‘N’ Link Bonus has finished, the next phase of the bonus feature is the free spins round. You get the number of free spins equal to the number of FS symbols you racked up in the Hold ‘N’ Link feature, and this is where the multiplier also seen on the FS symbols comes into play. Each free spin corresponds to a free spin symbol seen on the left, and any win on that spin is boosted by the multiplier value on that FS symbol.

The visual presentation in the previous Wild Buffalo: Hold ‘n’ Link was somewhat impressive, while Phoenix Queen: Hold ‘N’ Link is pretty generic and run-of-the-mill stuff in comparison. Even the pace (with the turbo switched on) was far better, not least compared to the sluggish experience we had with the game at hand. It has to do with the fact that this game is powered by partner, Stakelogic, while Wild Buffalo isn’t. Something to consider, perhaps.
Getting the free spins round right after the Hold ‘N’ Link feature is a somewhat original twist, and the same can be said about the individual multiplier you get per free spin. The cashpots are smaller than usual though, but you can still win up to a solid 5,000x your stake in total from the feature. Stakelogic needs to fix their slow pace (not least when the turbo is on), and overall this is a mediocre installment in a series that’ll probably never end.
Pros
- Hold ‘N’ Link w/ cashpots up to 500x
- FS w/ individual multiplier per spin
- FS follows right after Hold ‘N’ Link
- Win up to 5,000x your stake
Cons
- Slow turbo pace and generic vibe

Desert Riches - is an ancient Egyptian mythology installment in the NetGame Hold ‘N’ Link range, and you’ll benefit from a snake wild with an x2 multiplier. The hold ‘n’ link round comes with 3 modifier symbols, and a 1,000x jackpot for a full grid. The overall potential is 4,750x your stake.
Wild Buffalo: Hold ‘n’ Link - is an example of what NetGame can do on their own, without the restraints of the Stakelogic template, and it’s a far better game than the one at hand.
Visually, it’s much more alive, and the turbo pace is excellent. It comes with up to 2,000x jackpots in the Hold ‘n’ Link feature, and you can win up to 5,000x in total also in the bonus round.Tiger Jungle Hold and Win - is a hold & win release in a somewhat similar series from Booongo, and this one comes with 5x3 reels and 25 betlines. You’ll benefit from sticky wilds in the bonus round, and you can win jackpots up to 5,000x your stake in the Hold & Win feature.
