Rhino Hold and Win is another safari-themed slot in the Booming Games series, and it plays out on 5x3 reels with 25 paylines. The bonus round comes with no low-value symbols, and the hold and win feature is all about collecting sticky value symbols and winning jackpots up to 1,000x. The overall max win is 1,200x your stake, and this is a highly volatile installment. Read our full review below, and test the free demo game.

Rhino Hold and Win Review
With so many Hold & Win style releases being churned out every month, it’s probably a good idea to try to make your game stick out a bit from the herd. Booming Games hasn’t bothered with all that in Rhino Hold and Win, as it’s pretty close to being a reskin of their already forgotten previous effort, Buffalo Hold and Win. The only real difference is found in the math model, and in the change of main animal.
The math model differences are miniscule however, and you’re basically trading a slightly lower RTP with a somewhat higher overall max win in this installment. 95.87 % versus 95.91 % hardly makes a difference though, but the 1,200x potential is a bit better than 1,000x. Per usual, the hold and win feature is supposed to be the big attraction, and you also get a bonus round where low-value symbols are removed.

The wild symbol can land as a single 1x1 symbol, or fully stacked to cover entire reels. The stacked wilds can land on reels 2 to 5 only, and all wilds step in for regular pay symbols to help you complete winning combos. The wild holds no value of its own, but the 4 premium animal symbols pay between 4 and 10 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins.

You trigger the Bonus Round when you land 3 scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4 at the same time, and this awards 8 free spins.
You also get a 2x scatter win up front, and all lower-value royal symbols are removed from the reels during the feature. You can retrigger the bonus round the same way it was triggered in the first place, and you can also trigger the Hold and Win feature from within it.The Hold and Win feature is triggered when you land 6+ value symbols (big gold coins with a random value attached) anywhere in sight. The triggering symbols become sticky on a cleared grid, and you get 3 spins. The counter resets to 3 for every new sticky value symbol you land, and the regular value symbols are worth between 1x and 20x your stake.
In addition, you have 3 fixed jackpots. Two of them, the Mini and the Major jackpots, are won by landing a corresponding jackpot value coin.
These pay 25x and 100x, respectively, and you can win more than one per session. If you fill all positions with value symbols you win the 1,000x Grand Jackpot, plus the summed up winnings from value and jackpot value symbols. The 200 Spins Rhino Hold and Win Experience
You get to see some wins here and there in the base game, before we trigger the bonus round at 1:50 into the 5-minute highlights video. We managed to land several retriggers, so the feature went on for a good while. Check it all out for yourself by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
It cannot be denied that Rhino Hold and Win is very similar to Buffalo Hold and Win, which was released into the wild earlier this year. The features are identical, although the math model has been tweaked ever so slightly, which might be an attempt to escape the reskin stamp. Both are highly volatile installments, but this one comes with a slightly lower RTP of 95.87 %.
We would probably prefer this Rhino version if we had to choose between the two, but that is mostly due to the somewhat increased 1,200x potential, and not because we hate buffaloes. Both games are mediocre installments and run-of-the-mill Hold & Win efforts, and they do nothing to justify players choosing them over countless similar releases we see every month.
Pros
- FS w/ no low-value royal symbols
- Hold & Win w/ 3 fixed jackpots
- Win up to 1,200x your stake
Cons
- Close to a reskin of Buffalo Hold and Win
If you appreciate Rhino Hold and Win you should also try:
Buffalo Hold and Win - is close to being identical with the game at hand, but you get a somewhat higher 95.91 % RTP. The price you pay is a 1,000x potential, which is a tad lower than in the game at hand.
If you prefer buffalos to rhinos for whatever reason, this one might be for you.Cash Pig - is a far better alternative in the Hold and Win range from Booming, and it comes with an enjoyable luxury/wealth theme. Winning low-value symbols are removed in the bonus round, triggering cascades, and premium symbols pay double. There is also a piggy bank hold & win feature, and the max win is 8,000x your stake.
Wombaroo Hold and Re-Spin - is a Booming Games installment that’s set in the outback of Australia, and you can look forward to a sticky wilds bonus round. The wilds pay 125x for 5-oak, and the wombat wins hold and re-spin feature can land you cash prizes as usual. The volatility is high, and the max win is 4,000x your stake.
