Money Train Origins Dream Drop Review
After being absorbed in the futuristic megahit that is Money Train 3 for a while, it can be easy to forget the somewhat humble Wild West roots of this whole franchise. Relax Gaming has not forgotten how it all started, however, as Money Train Origins Dream Drop pays homage to the first game. You will recognize the train robbers immediately, but the visual department has been given a solid overhaul. This modernized look is accompanied by an excellent soundtrack, but not too much has changed with regards to the features.
The base game is still as barebones as a tumbleweed rolling through the desert, but the fact that you can now trigger the Dream Drop Jackpot Game at any given time helps keep the tension up. The main attraction, outside of the progressive jackpots, is, of course, the Money Cart bonus round. It comes with 6 special symbols in this version, and it’s overall pretty similar to the original game. The 10,000x potential has been cut in half though, but the Mega Jackpot seeds at £500,000.

The premium character symbols pay between 8 and 20 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the golden revolver Wild symbol steps in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins.
The Wild also pays the same as the top-tier character symbol should you land 3 to 5 wilds on the same payline. There are no other features in the base game.Similar Slots:
The Money Cart Bonus Round triggers from 3 scatters in view, and the triggering symbols become sticky on an otherwise cleared grid. Only tumbleweed blanks and/or different bonus symbols will appear in the feature, and the respins tally resets to 3 each time you land at least one new sticky bonus symbol of any kind. Filling a reel unlocks an extra reel, and this can happen up to 2 times.
Here is an overview of the different bonus symbols:
- Bonus prize - comes with values between 1 and 10 x your stake.
- Collector - accumulates all cash prize values currently in view.
- Payer - adds its own value to all symbols on the same reel.
- Banker - adds its own value to all symbols persistently per spin.
- Healer - revives 1-3 Collector or Payer symbols, and they will then be active for 2-7 spins.
- Persistent Collector - accumulates all cash prize values on the current spin, and persistently on all spins that follow.
- Persistent Payer - adds its own value to all symbols on the current spin, and persistently on all following spins.
You win a 1,000x prize if you manage to fill all 28 positions on the grid with bonus symbols (bar the Healer). It should also be noted that persistent symbols can substitute for bonus symbols when triggering the feature, and these are highlighted as golden symbols.
The Dream Drop Jackpot Spin triggers at random times before a regular base game spin.
You will then see DD symbols appear, and you need all positions covered by DD symbols to get to the actual jackpot game. It’s a pick game where you’ll blow open safety deposit boxes, and this reveals Rapid, Midi, Maxi, Major, or Mega jackpot symbols. Match up 3 symbols to win the corresponding progressive jackpot, and they start at £1, £5, £100, £25,000, and £500,000, respectively. The non-DD version of this game comes with a Bonus Buy option that’s available in some jurisdictions, but not in the UK for sure. If eligible, you can purchase the feature for 80x the stake, and this gives you an increased RTP of 96.5 %.
The 200 Spins Money Train Origins Dream Drop Slot Experience
You get to see a decent wild-infused win in the base game, before we trigger the Money Cart Bonus Round at 1:13 into the 2:17-minute highlights video. We landed 4 triggering bonus symbols, but none of them were of the persistent kind. You can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
Instead of taking the lazy route of simply adding the Dream Drop Jackpot feature to one of their popular Money Train installments, Relax Gaming has taken the time to create brand new visuals for Money Train Origins Dream Drop. It’s basically a modernized version of the original game, albeit with some minor changes to the bonus round modifiers and more significant changes to the math model. The visuals are superbly done, and the Morricone-inspired soundtrack is a feast for the ears.
The intro is pretty spectacular as well, and it gives you a close-up introduction of the 4 main characters.
Chasing the DD jackpots isn't always a forgiving affair though, as you will be dealing with a 94 % RTP out of which 12 percentage points goes to feed the jackpots. The 10,000x potential half of what the original Money Train offers, and way below the follow-ups. Still, life-changing jackpots can be landed, and there is also a non-jackpot version of this somewhat nostalgic back to the roots installment.Pros
- Excellent wild west audiovisuals
- Money Cart feature w/ 6 special symbols
- Random Dream Drop Jackpot Game
- Win up to 10,000x outside of the jackpots
- Mega Jackpot seeds at £500,000
Cons
- No base game features except wilds
- RTP of 94 % (minus 12 pp for jackpots)
